OGC Nice realistic against Ajaccio (2-0)

Victorious against Ajaccio, OGC Nice continues its climb up the rankings (2-0). In a tough match, the Eagles showed realism, even if it meant sacrificing gameplay. Under pressure from the Corsicans, Claude Puel’s men held strong to ultimately secure their eighth win of the season.

nicajaccio-2.jpgOGC Nice certainly didn’t expect to face so many difficulties against Ajaccio. In a match seemingly within their reach, they nonetheless suffered from numerous Corsican offensives. With a bit more realism, ACA could have even taken the lead, or won.

Deprived of several injured players, Claude Puel once again had to make do with limited resources. For that, only the victory will be remembered, along with the attitude displayed. The mentality needed to win this type of game against a team throwing in everything they have to hope for survival in Ligue 1.

In terms of satisfaction, Dario Cvitanich stands out. Silent for over two months, the Argentine scored a crucial personal goal during stoppage time. His last goal dated back to November 3rd during the 12th matchday, via a penalty against Bordeaux. An eternity for a striker of Super Darioโ€™s caliber. The former Boca Juniors player inspires his supporters to hope for a different second half of the season. If he regains his “vista” and success in front of the goal, the goal-scorer he is could lead Nice to aim for more than just a mid-table position.

A difficult challenge, but far from impossible, requiring Claude Puel’s men to achieve a good run of victories. With 27 points, nothing is settled yet, but the Gym must not make any errors if they wish to spice up their end of season.

Hope keeps you alive, but it’s the desire that makes you win!
