OGC Nice – Stade de Reims: a draw for the eaglets’ first league match

Latest News

For their first Ligue 1 match of the promising 2021/2022 season, the Eaglets hosted Stade de Reims (14th last year) at home.

After a mixed summer preparation, but ending well thanks to a fine match against AC Milan, the Gym players wanted to start their season in the league in the best way possible.

It was with a 0-0 draw that Christophe Galtier’s men began their season. Indeed, despite a match where they dominated (62% possession and 12 shots against 5), the Eaglets lacked efficiency in the final move with only 2 shots on target (Todibo 32nd, Ndoye 43rd). Kluivert and Rosario, two of the three Dutch signings, were in the starting lineup but remained discreet.

The Stade de Reims, under new coach Oscar Garcia, was not very active, failing to get any shots on target out of the 5 attempted during the match.

Despite the introduction of new signings to each team—Lemina, Bard for Nice and Berisha for Reims—the second half was not much different and saw the match end in a logical 0-0.

The next meeting for the Nice team will be in Lille, Saturday at 2 PM. The new Gym coach, Christophe Galtier, will meet again with the team with which he won the championship last season.
