OGC Nice: the Gym after a former Italian international player

Latest News

The season has just ended, but OGC Nice remains at the heart of the news with the transfer market. Always very active during the summer transfer window, the club from the Cรดte d’Azur is already interested in several players, including one well-known player just a few kilometers away, on the other side of the Italian border.

Although the Gym’s transfer market activities are linked to the uncertain future of sporting director Julien Fournier and coach Christophe Galtier, OGC Nice still seems to be active in recruiting.

It was the very reliable Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio who reported on Twitter that the Cรดte d’Azur club is interested in a well-known Serie A player, a former Italian international who is still performing at a very high level.

This Italian player is Antonio Candreva. A player for Sampdoria Genoa, he has been considered for several years as one of the best wingers in the championship. Although he is not young (he turned 35 last January), the former player of Lazio Rome and Inter Milan continues to perform, having scored 7 goals and provided 12 assists. These statistics would be considered very good in a club competing for the title, but they are even more flattering for Candreva, who finished 15th and fought to stay up with Sampdoria.

Despite Candreva’s advanced age, the Italian seems to be a very interesting option for the Gym and Christophe Galtier, who requested an experienced winger last winter. At 35, the market value of the Roman with 54 caps is very affordable (2.5 million). Candreva would not be opposed to the idea of leaving Sampdoria and taking on one last challenge in his career.

Will he succumb to the charm of OGC Nice? According to Di Marzio, Nice is not the only club interested. Monza, the club promoted to Serie A next season by Silvio Berlusconi, also wants to recruit Antonio Candreva.
