Latest News

Yesterday, the draws for the Coupe de France took place before the Strasbourg-Monaco match. The Aiglons will face Lorient in the quarter-finals on March 4th.

Yesterday, on the France 3 set, the draws for the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France took place. After narrowly defeating Montpellier in the round of 16 (3-2), OGC Nice will have to travel to FC Lorient’s ground for the quarter-finals of the competition. The task won’t be easy for the Aiglons, who had already lost 3-1 to Lorient at the end of November in Ligue 1, then coached by Franck Haise. This defeat led to the Gym players being confronted by their supporters at the training center.

Before facing Lorient in the Coupe de France, Puel’s men will first host the club in Ligue 1 on February 22nd. Currently ninth in the league, Lorient has gone twelve matches unbeaten with prestigious victories against Lyon and Rennes. On their side, OGC Nice has recently won a Coupe de France match against Montpellier and drawn in Ligue 1 against Brest. During the same match, the Ultras group of the Populaire Sud chanted “We want the Coupe de France” at the end of the game.

Asked about the priority of the Coupe de France for a potential qualification for the European Cup, the Gym’s coach remained pragmatic. “For me, the Cup is a step-by-step process. When you look at the remaining teams, only the tough ones will be left. We’ll focus on the next step, there’s no point in getting ahead of ourselves. All those qualified are thinking: ‘what if we could make it to the end?’. What’s important is that we concentrate on showing up for the next match, regardless of the draw“.

Other Matches of the Coupe de France

After defeating Monaco yesterday, Strasbourg will face Reims, the only Ligue 2 club still in the competition. Meanwhile, Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais will host Toulouse and Lens, respectively. This 2026 edition of the Coupe de France marks a first in over ten years: never have so many top-flight clubs reached this stage of the competition since 2013.
