Like this summer, OGC Nice is one of the French clubs to set the transfer market periods on fire.
The winter transfer window had a strong start for OGC Nice with Kamara’s departure and Amavi’s return. Subsequently, the Nice board did not take their foot off the pedal and continued to work on other deals.
Last week, the Gym announced on its Twitter account the signing of Ange Ahoussou, a young 18-year-old central defender. The Ivorian arrives from RC Abidjan, with whom he notably played in the African Champions League. The club provided more information about the young elephant’s profile: “Gifted with good passing skills, solid in duels, the 18-year-old left-footer arrives on the Côte d’Azur with the ambition to continue his development in a setting conducive to his growth,”
Even though OGC Nice has strengthened its defense, the Nice management wants to secure the services of a new central defender capable of backing up Todibo and Dante. In Galtier’s hierarchy, the backup for this duo is Flavius Daniliuc, but the Austrian sometimes plays on the flanks. The club from the Azur coast is therefore targeting a player capable of securing the defense in case of injuries to any of the three players.
Brazilian Robson Bambu is still part of the squad, but it is clear that his Nice adventure is coming to an end, and he no longer has a place in the project.
To secure the already established trio, another Ivorian after Ahoussou is being targeted.
Emmanuel Agbadou, a tall defender measuring 1.92m, also from Abidjan, plays in Belgium for Eupen club. An international since October, he is one of the reliable players in the championship in his position, having had a very good start to the season with 5 goals in 20 matches.
Although he was mentioned as a potential recruit for another team in the championship, La Gantoise, it seems he is heading towards the Côte d’Azur, according to the Belgian media outlet “Het Nieuwsblad.” Nice reportedly offered 6 million euros for the Ivorian.
However, this may not be the only option the Gym is pursuing for its central defense. Indeed, according to English journalist Pete O’Rourke, Nice would like to sign Everton defender Mason Holgate on loan.
A key player when Ancelotti was managing the Toffees, he has only played 8 games this season since Benitez took over at the Liverpool club.
AS Monaco and another Premier League club are also interested in loaning the player, so the competition will be tough for this deal.
Another target in the Nice transfer window is a midfield addition. The club aims to secure a young player from Ligue 2, Nancy’s Warren Bondo.
A French international in the youth categories, the 18-year-old player, promised a bright future, is out of contract next June.
After two seasons in the second division, he is impressing and shining in the championship.
He is reportedly being tracked by many French teams like Rennes and Monaco, and even AC Milan, Atlético, and Bayern Munich are mentioned. Clubs looking towards the future are already fighting to recruit the young prodigy for free in six months. According to “Le 10 Sport,” Nice has reportedly joined the race. If that’s the case, there is no doubt that the competition will be fierce.
