The season for OGC Nice has indeed come to an end, but some of the Aiglons have reunited with their national team. Among them are two young talents on the verge of joining the senior French Team and who are already part of the U21 selection.
On Thursday evening at the Stade des Alpes in Grenoble, the France U21 team welcomed Serbia U21 as part of the qualifiers for the U21 Euro which will take place next year.
The U21 coach, Sylvain Ripoll, decided to start with two players from Nice, two Aiglons who have particularly stood out this season: Khephren Thuram and Amine Gouiri.
This decision proved to be rewarding as these two players secured the victory for the young French team. First, Thuram opened the scoring just before halftime. Served by a superb cross from Milan’s Pierre Kalulu, the tall number 19 headed in to score 1-0, marking his first goal with the France U21 team.
Just an hour into the game, Amine Gouiri extended the lead. It was Eduardo Camavinga, recently crowned Champions League winner with Real Madrid, who perfectly set up the Nice player with a through ball. Calmly, Gouiri finished with a subtle right-footed shot. With this goal, the 22-year-old forward is involved in 50 goals in 51 matches with the French youth teams (4 in U16, 11 in U17, 5 in U18, 7 in U19, 5 in U20 and 8 in U21).
