OGC Nice plays tonight (7 PM) the first of its two decisive matches against Lazio Rome. In case of success, qualification would be almost assured.
Finalists of the last Italian Cup and 5th in the last Serie A, Lazio’s Romans were expected to prove themselves with the onset of the new season. They have managed it perfectly and, after 8 matches, continue to make progress.
With 6 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss, Lazio has climbed to the 3rd spot on the podium and comes off a prestigious victory in Turin against Juve, the outgoing champion and last finalist of the Champions League (2-1). As winners of the Italian Super Cup this summer against the same Old Lady, the club has also secured victories in its first two Europa League outings (3-2 in Arnhem, 2-0 against Zulte).
As for the Eagles, despite a more complicated start to the championship, the European campaign is going better. Two wins as well (5-1 against Zulte and 3-0 in Arnhem) place the Gym at the top of group K.
THE SQUADS
The squads will be announced tomorrow at noon, before the match.
THE REFEREE
On the field, we will find the experienced Craig Thomson (45 years), a regular at international evenings. Graeme Stewart and Stuart Stevenson will be his assistants.
