The only team not to have been defeated by Didier Digard’s Gym, Will Still’s Stade de Reims traveled to Nice this Saturday for the 24th day of Ligue 1. Once again, the Aiglons and the Rémois ended in a draw.
Since Didier Digard was appointed, OGC Nice had only achieved victories except for the draw in Reims on the 19th day (0-0). Subsequently, Nice won challenging matches against Lille, Lens, and Marseille. The Gym was presenting itself with tremendous momentum and a different status. Nevertheless, the Aiglons once again faced a stalemate against Will Still’s team.
In the first half, it was the Gym that appeared more noticeable offensively, yet they failed to create a clear chance. Both teams returned to the locker room after a lackluster first half. After the break, the dynamics of the match seemed to reverse as Reims took the upper hand and gained more possession. Penalized for a handball in the area, Jean-Clair Todibo offered a penalty to Balogun, whose shot was saved by Kasper Schmeichel (55th minute). In the opposite area, Khephren Thuram sparked the azuréens’ revolt, but Diouf (59th minute) intervened. The Danish goalkeeper was called upon several times but managed to keep Stade de Reims from scoring. The match ended with a score of 0-0.
With Lyon’s defeat, OGC Nice had the opportunity to get closer to the European spots, but as was the case a month ago, Will Still and his men deprived the Niçois of this joy and a fifth consecutive victory.
