OGC Nice: Weekly Transfer Update

Latest News

As every Sunday, we summarize the latest transfer news of the week from OGC Nice. The past few days have been particularly eventful for Le Gym.

The week was particularly hectic at OGC Nice! A major, quite unexpected event marked the recent days at Le Gym: the announcement of the upcoming departure of Jean-Pierre Rivรจre. On Friday, the president of Les Aiglons confirmed his departure after 14 years of good and loyal service. He decided to leave his position. Starting from August 20, the leadership will be handed over to Fabrice Bocquet, the current general manager, who has been with the club since 2022. โ€œA big thank you to all those who have accompanied me during these wonderful years, it has been an exceptional human adventure. I leave very serene for the future of the club,โ€ shared JPR.

Regarding the transfer market, OGC Nice continues its efforts and path. After three initial recruits, Le Gym has formalized the arrival of Isak Jansson. The Swede arrives from Rapid Vienna (Austria). The winger comes to strengthen the attacking lines in the Cรดte d’Azur. According to several rumors, the operation would have cost โ‚ฌ7M, and could reach up to โ‚ฌ10M, if certain bonuses are met.

During the traditional press conference presenting the first four recruits, Florian Maurice provided an initial assessment of Niceโ€™s transfer window. โ€œItโ€™s not over, thatโ€™s for sure. Until the end of August, there will still be movements, departures, and arrivals. The objective is to swiftly tackle the priority cases to form a team capable of playing very quickly,โ€ revealed the Nice sporting director. In other words, it is far from over.

On the departure side, Gaรซtan Laborde is getting closer to Saudi Arabia. The Nice striker is reportedly on the radar of Al-Diraiyah, recently promoted to the Saudi D2. According to Foot Mercato, the club is offering โ‚ฌ4M to secure the services of the forward. The Gym would not be opposed to parting with Laborde, who has a significant salary on the Cรดte d’Azur (estimated at โ‚ฌ300,000/month).

Back from a loan at Catanzaro, Rares Ilie is once again loaned out to Italy. The Romanian was loaned to Empoli, in Serie B. There is also a purchase option included in the deal. Meanwhile, OGC Nice confirmed the loan of Victor Orakpo, without a purchase option, to Montpellier. Last season, the Nigerian appeared four times on Ligue 1 pitches and will continue his development in Hรฉrault.
