What a victory! What a turbulent week for the people of Nice! On Tuesday the club’s acquisition by billionaire Jim Ratcliffe was made official, on Wednesday, during a match interrupted by homophobic insults, OGC Nice lost to OM in the Riviera derby (1-2). Yesterday, the eaglets corrected their course by defeating the Rennes leader on their own turf (1-2).
During this away game, Patrick Vieira had to do without several of Gym’s key players: Dante, Hérelle, Danilo, Walter, Dolberg, and Myziane. The Riviera coach decided to innovate by fielding a significantly revamped team illustrated by this defense: Pelmard – Lloris – Burner – Coly or this new-look attack Srarfi – Atal – Lusumba. New signings Stanley Nsoki and Adam Ounas started on the bench.
