After more than a year without a club, the former Gym goalkeeper returns to action in a lower division.

Born in La Ciotat, Yoan Cardinal is a native of the PACA region and a lover of Nice. He passed through Marseille before arriving at Gym at the age of 15 in 2009. Four years later, in the summer of 2013, he signed his first professional contract with Nice. During the 2014-2015 season, he held the position of goalkeeper for Nice’s reserve team and participated in 21 out of 30 possible matches, contributing to his team’s retention in CFA2.

At the age of 21, he played his first Ligue 1 match on Sunday, October 18, 2015, following injuries to Simon Pouplin and Mouez Hassen. Until the 2017-18 season, he was the number 1 goalkeeper, but an injury gave Walter Benitez the opportunity to become the starting goalkeeper.

In June 2021, Yoan Cardinale left OGC Nice after the end of his contract. After more than a year without a club, he signed with a local club, Sporting Club de Toulon, a team in National 2.
