After the Allianz Riviera in 2013, Nice football is set to complete the renovation of its sports facilities by acquiring an international standard training and education center. The goal: Scheduled to open in 2016.
Then… The only thing missing for OGCN to become one of the great European clubs is just one thing: A quality team on the playing field for a consistently more ambitious ranking.
This training center will also have the means to do better than its current unimpressive 19th place among the 33 certified by football authorities. It is far from being very promising.
Located within the Eco-Vallée, between the highway and the Mercantour Boulevard, this complex will be created to provide professional players and training center residents with state-of-the-art sports (5 playing fields) and logistical tools (residences and rooms).
The club’s management will have administrative offices and presentation spaces to allow them to connect with supporters and partners, creating a place of social life and instilling a sense of belonging.
Presented to civil and sports authorities, the project by architect Jean-Philippe Cabane received a score of 10/10: Its realization will integrate into the future Sports City already initiated by the Olympic pool and will be complemented by other facilities (The project’s presentation will be announced in a few weeks).
Christian Estrosi reiterated the municipality’s support for this project, which is largely funded with the acquisition of the necessary land for 6 million euros for approximately 10 hectares, with the city contributing to OGCN’s budget with 2.5 million in various subsidies.
President Jean-Pierre Rivère did not hide his satisfaction: “The project is ambitious but essential for the club’s future. It’s a step that will allow us to grow.”
An appointment is set for the laying of the first stone in a few weeks…
