The hearing opposing Olivier Bettati and the Roya Citoyenne association was scheduled to take place yesterday morning at the Nice Courthouse. However, members of the association and their lawyers insisted on being present.
The FN councilor had filed a lawsuit against Roya Citoyenne to have it dissolved.
For Cรฉdric Herrou, the Gandhi of the Roya who now feels entrusted with a mission, the situation is not normal. “In Paris or elsewhere, associations are not criminally prosecuted. And no one is taken into custody because they have a foreigner in their car.” For him, being close to the border does not justify these actions against them.
The hearing has been postponed to October 13, 2017. The reason is purely administrative, as explained by Maรฎtre Mireille Damiano, who is defending the association. The judge is stepping aside and therefore cannot rule on the case. But the lawyer remains confident. “The president of the court himself will preside over the hearing, which should ensure its proper functioning.”
The lawyers have already filed their defense briefs and presented their arguments. All that remains is to prove on the day of the hearing that the association’s actions are not unlawful.
