On Tuesday, Olivier Bettati presented part of his program, specifically focusing on culture. Surrounded by well-informed running mates, he demonstrated to the press his intention to reshape the contours of culture in Nice.
“I try to surround myself with brilliant people.” Olivier Bettati places great importance on delivering a truly polished plan focused on culture. The candidate aims to make culture a major asset. To achieve this, he proposes four strong initiatives.
Firstly, he intends to create a genuine cultural blossoming with the ambition of redeveloping the eastern part of the city and establishing a true eco-district. Secondly, he wants to create a real Carnival City, which would be housed in the current Exhibition Palace.
Finally, the third and fourth initiatives involve two major events, namely a weekend art supermarket and a live art show (similar to a second carnival).
Naturally, there are conditions for this cultural blossoming. It requires unleashing creative energies, promoting alternative cultural venues, and reconciling environments that have collaborated in the past, such as socio-cultural and artistic sectors.
The present running mates (Jean-Pierre Giusto, Jean Flores, Felix Kudelka, Marie Chantal Di Martino Dhoste) actively participated in the conference, supporting their leader.
Various proposals were discussed, including the creation of two types of forums. The first, an annual cultural forum, would serve to review past and future events. The other would be the “Nice Creative Forum,” aimed at offering a significant cultural offering that currently does not reflect the cultural abundance Nice can provide. Highlighted as well was the “Niçoise language,” with the mention that bilingualism is an advantage.
Because “culture is everyday life.”
