Olivier Véran in Nice: the summary of his visit

Latest News

Almost one year to the day after his visit to the Archet hospital in Nice, the Minister of Health and Solidarity returns to the establishment in the capital of the French Riviera to discuss Covid and innovation in the sector.

Health Minister Olivier Véran visited the French Riviera this Thursday, more specifically the Archet hospital in Nice.
Of course, Covid is at the center of this day and it’s not by chance that the minister is visiting this establishment.
Indeed, since the beginning of the pandemic, the anger of the hospital staff in the southeast Nice hospital has been growing strongly. As a result, Olivier Véran had already visited almost a year to the day, on February 20, 2021. However, the demands are still as strong from the Archet unions, who are asking for salary increases for young beginners in the profession, free transportation, or massive hiring of staff.

The Minister of Health has therefore once again traveled to the capital of the French Riviera to meet once more with the unions and the infectious disease department. The minister was questioned on numerous points and restated the conditions for the lifting of sanitary measures planned for mid-March: There must be “low circulation of the virus” and hospitals must operate without emergency deprogramming. This is the case at L’Archet.
To see the end of indoor mask-wearing, Olivier Véran sets the condition that the number of people in intensive care must fall below 1,500. Currently, there are 3,126 people still being cared for in this service in France.

The reasons for Olivier Véran’s visit to Nice were not only about Covid.
In fact, the Minister, in office since 2020, announced a new investment plan by the State in the health sector. 7.5 billion euros will be spent by the French government for the development of new medical solutions and innovative medical devices.
An innovation project carried out by the functional rehabilitation department of the Nice University Hospital was presented to the minister this morning. In partnership with the start-up Wandercraft, the Nice teams created an exceptional exoskeleton project. Although it is rather expensive, it performs feats by helping people who can no longer walk to stand again while continuing rehabilitation. Nice thus becomes the fourth French city to have this tool.
