The derby is finally here. Initially postponed following OM’s European journey, the southern derby will take place this Wednesday, February 24, at 9:00 PM. The Nice team will travel to the Vélodrome for a clash between two direct contenders for European positions. Last Friday, the Gym strengthened their 5th place after an easy victory against Lorient. After reclaiming victory at home, OGC Nice arrives in good form to contest this match.
On the other side, the Marseillais occupy the 9th place in the championship. Slightly behind, the Phocéens are seven points behind OGC Nice. OM is coming off a draw (2-2) on Toulouse’s pitch. In the first leg, the Aiglons won (1-0) with a goal from Evann Guessand.
Thuram and Lotomba uncertain
Having exited mid-game after sustaining a bruise against Lorient, Khephren Thuram (thigh contusion) is uncertain for this match, as is Jordan Lotomba (knee contusion). Both players will be tested one last time this Tuesday afternoon. Finally, long-term absentees Sofiane Diop and Valentin Rosier will not be traveling to the Phocaean city.
As for OM, the list of absentees is long. Chancel Mbemba, Ismaïla Sarr, Valentin Rongier (knee) are out. This will also be the case for Bamo Meïte (ankle), Quentin Merlin (foot), and Bilal Nadir (knee ligaments).
