The Hôtel du Couvent in Nice will host the London Contemporary Music Festival on the occasion of its 10th anniversary. For two days, this festival promises to revitalize this 17th-century former convent with a rich and varied artistic experience.

Located at 1 rue Honoré Ugo in Nice, the Hôtel du Couvent has the honor of hosting the London Contemporary Music Festival on July 5th and 6th. This festival will be held over two days with a well-diversified program. The London Contemporary Music Festival, founded in 2013, provides a space for contemporary music enthusiasts. This event will take place at the Hôtel du Couvent, a former convent built in 1904.

On the Program

Several artists will be featured during these two days.

The first day, July 5th, will begin at 7:30 PM with improvisations by the legendary double bassist Joëlle Léandre. She has worked with the greatest names in jazz and improvisation. Around forty composers have dedicated works to her.

She will be followed by a new piece, composed by turntablist Mariam Rezaei. According to some sources, her music is “truly revolutionary” and a “fast-paced sound surrealism.”

The second day, July 6th, will feature the performance “No!” by Christian Marclay, interpreted by the renowned Elaine Mitchener. She is a British Afro-Caribbean singer, composer, and curator, distinguished by her free improvisation and visual art.

A work by composer Pascale Criton will then be performed by violinist Silvia Tarozzi.

Russell Haswell will offer an exclusive preview of the opera being prepared for the London festival in December. He is an artist, producer, musician, and noise enthusiast.

To conclude these two days, the extraordinary percussionist Limpe Fuchs, aged 83, will play her spectacular homemade instruments made of bronze, granite, and wood. She is one of the most imaginative sound artists and percussionists on the international music scene.

Doors open at 7:30 PM, and the presentations start at 8:00 PM. Admission is between 12 and 26 euros. All reservations can be made through this link
