As part of the Seniors Theatre program, this Monday at 2 PM, the theatrical performance “On Stage Monsieur Guitry” produced by the Theatre du Verseau company, in the presence of Mister and Missus Caubart, the rights holders of the play, will be held at Salle Laure Ecard.
Seniors Theatre: an essential cultural event
Since the end of 2015, Seniors Theatre has complemented the range of cultural activities offered to the seniors within the “Seniors in Action” initiative. The Department offers a varied selection of comedies and theatrical creations throughout the year, performed by numerous local troupes and actors at the price of 2.50 euros per person. In light of the success encountered, theatrical performances have been doubled with sessions at 2 PM and then 4 PM. In 2019, 4,720 spectators were welcomed.
“On Stage Monsieur Guitry”
Alone on stage, Gilles Gauci becomes Sacha Guitry. The actor delivers an adaptation constructed from a montage of texts from the author’s work (plays, thoughts, maxims, poems, etc.). In a lively conversation, he shares with us, among other things, his anecdotes and reflections on the world of theatre, his special relationship with women, and his imprisonment at Liberation. Thus emerges an unexpected portrait of this often-maligned literary giant. Because beyond the Sacha we all know—charming, caustic, nonchalant, and light-hearted—there is also a more serious, lucid Guitry, a moralist in his own way who—without ever taking himself too seriously—speaks to every generation.
This intimate encounter with the author is a show combining an insolent casualness of tone, a very brisk pace, and an impressive verbal virtuosity.
