For three weeks, until October 16th, the Mediterranean Photography Festival is taking place and offers the public a comprehensive panorama of today’s photographic approaches.
Openings, exhibitions, screenings, conferences, and workshops are expected in eight cities along the Cรดte d’Azur.
Chaired by Robert Matthey, a photographer from Nice, the Sept Off association is celebrating its 18th anniversary. Sept Off is an association that continues to promote local photography, aiming to bring its artists onto the national stage.
This weekend was the opening one, featuring a collective exhibition at the Saint-Jean d’Angely Campus with several photographers.
Five themes are anticipated. In situ, Andrรฉ Villers, De spiritus … Did you say “photography”? & Right of inventory.
Urban landscapes, natural ones, explanatory phrases, devoid of humans and activities… By wanting to show a postcard effect, photographers Alexis Manchion and Olivia Borh aim to convey a message, “show the evolution of cities” and the “hidden side of the city.” An impression of nostalgia.
On another wall, a completely different theme “La hora de la Verdad” (The Hour of Truth). Julie Hascoรซt, a photographer, wished to present a different approach to the “Corrida” by taking us behind the scenes of the arena world. A rather poetic and sensitive approach.
Adelap presents a cartography of the roads of France. She wants to depict a poetic and sensitive vision of France’s road landscapes.
Sandra MEHL has chosen yet another focus. The beach. Her series “P.S. I write to you from Seagulls Beach” vividly represents its title. Photographs of fishermen, people on the beach. Photos taken each summer from 2012 to 2015. The documentary approach is evident.
Jef BONIFACINO has taken photographs of the city of Vorkuta in Russia. Showing the harsh and bitter daily life of the inhabitants of this former mining city.
