The second inter-pool edition of the year allowed 348 children from the five swimming schools in Nice to try out activities, all under the attentive eyes of parents observing the progress made by their young kids.
With one week left (Friday, June 19) before the end of swimming lessons, the children were able to participate in a variety of activities such as water polo, diving, and synchronized swimming.
After a dry warm-up by the poolside, the young swimmers took their place in the large pool for shooting and precision exercises.
For the younger ones, the small adjacent pool offered an introduction to shooting, followed by back-pedaling exercises.
Organized annually by ONN (Olympic Nice Natation), this day aims to allow children to discover other disciplines different from traditional swimming.
“The club has organized two days annually since its inception. We try to showcase demonstrations and show that swimming is not just about racing competitions,” said Erick Lefert, the sports coordinator for the ONN club.
Time for Synchronized Swimming
Shortly before the triathlon presentation, the hope selection girls from ONN put on a synchronized swimming show. Léa, Laurie, and their friends performed a remarkable aquatic routine, admired by the watchful parents.
Discovering the Triathlon
After the aquatic dance, the young ONN athletes took to the “athletic track” set up for the occasion.
This still little-known aquatic discipline involves running, cycling, and a swimming event. It is a physically demanding and impressive course that requires endurance and good adaptability.
End-of-Year Rewards
Before the diploma ceremony and a well-deserved snack, the children participated in three races: the 25 m backstroke, the 50 m breaststroke crawl, and the 50 m crawl.
Here, there is no spirit of competition. The focus is not on winning but on finishing the race at one’s own pace.
Each child received a diploma before enjoying a good snack. The winners of the various races were awarded a club t-shirt.
