The Alpes-Maritimes Department announces the return of the “Opera Unconfined” for its third edition. From May 10 to June 28, 2024, each Friday will resonate with the rhythm of 4 free mini-concerts in 4 locations throughout the Nice area.

After enchanting the cities of Vence, Saint-Jeannet, Carros, and then Grasse during its previous editions, the “Opera Unconfined” returns this year to Nice. This initiative aims to democratize opera, an art often perceived as elitist, by making it accessible to everyone, regardless of social or economic barriers. Designed to break down stereotypes and broaden cultural horizons, the “Opera Unconfined” is directed towards a wide audience, particularly isolated individuals or those removed from the opera.

Led by the Collective of Lyric Artists & Musicians for Solidarity (CALMS), which consists of over 300 professional artists, the Opera offers a strong connection of meeting and sharing. It provides a way to address contemporary societal themes. Indeed, these weekly events will also explore topics such as family relationships, solidarity, and even femicide, through the lyrical repertoire.
