From October 7 to 14, the city of Nice hosts “Un Festival c’est trop court” for its 22nd edition. For one week, the capital of the French Riviera celebrates emerging and independent cinema with this European Short Film Festival. The program is likely to be full, with many venues available to participate in this event (Cinémathèque de Nice, MAMAC, and many cinemas among others).

This year, the theme is focused on writing. There are no fewer than 4 competitions with 82 films selected representing 24 countries. Additionally, there are 9 themed screenings, a professional day, meetings with filmmakers, and an open-air opening ceremony.

Opening Night: Cinema Quarter

For this rendezvous right in the heart of rue Defly:

  • 7:30 PM: Bar and dining on site; Café-Bookstore Les Parleuses, Brewery Hops, Restaurant Loffre.
  • 9 PM: Open-air screening; featuring fiction, animation, video, music clips, and more.

This “Cinema Quarter” is a highlight of the Festival. In addition to serving as the opening, the entire downtown area of Nice gets involved throughout the week to promote this local and international event. Several merchants create themed window displays in the Festival’s colors to represent the 7th Art. The goal is to energize the neighborhood while promoting this event that attracts thousands of spectators each year.
