Opera Beach: “The Summer Will Be Hot” in Nice

Latest News

A lifebuoy at the entrance immediately immerses us in the setting. A maritime decor where blue and white colors dominate. Simple but friendly, the beach has spanned four generations since its inception. Plenty of time to study the market and find what attracts customers.

Open every evening during the summer until 2:30 AM (a permit many do not have), Opéra Plage organizes a multitude of themed evenings. Concerts, orchestras, DJs, painting exhibitions, film screenings, fashion shows; all events that have allowed Michel Maiffret to retain his clientele. A clientele predominantly young, divided into three categories: locals, athletes, and foreign tourists. If you’re looking for quiet, Opéra Plage is not the place for you, the boss himself says “the summer will be hot” (slogan).

In these times of crisis, Mr. Maiffret acknowledges “a certain gloom and restraint” among his customers, “they are more price-conscious. Now instead of taking a bottle of wine, they take a jug.” However, he has not changed his prices for three years, which remain very attractive.

On the beach side, two packages are offered. The “beach day” package at 13 euros. It includes a mattress, umbrella, and cabin. And the “feet in the water” package with locker, mattress, umbrella, dish, and drink for 26 euros. As for the restaurant’s menu, the prices are just as affordable as the dishes cost between 16 and 26 euros and the salads 13 euros. For drinks, it is 3.50 euros for a Coke or beer.
The average rate for a day at Opéra Plage: 26 euros with the “feet in the water” package.
