For the Opéra de Nice, the arrival of Marc Adam is a major asset, considering his previous experiences at the head of renowned Opera Houses. Marc Adam has just taken up his position at the Opéra de Nice on November 2, 2012.
This recruitment follows an international call for applications launched by the City of Nice, as well as the holding of a high-level jury, which notably included Jean-Jacques Aillagon, Former Minister of Culture.
Originally from Strasbourg, Marc Adams studied at the Institut National Supérieur des Arts du Spectacle (INSAS) in Brussels.
Appointed Director of the Théâtre de la Ville de Berne, the Swiss capital, in 2007, he programmed the last five seasons there after being, from 2000 to 2007, General Director of the Theater of Lübeck in Germany, from 1991 to 1998 General Director of the Théâtre des Arts de Rouen-Opéra de Normandie, and from 1986 to 1991, Director of Perspectives, the French theater festival in Saarbrücken.
For more than two decades, Marc Adam has been leading institutions dedicated to the performing arts. Also a director, his professional journey has led him to work in France, England, Australia and Germany, in the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, and Italy.
