Bicycles freely circulating on the south roadway of the Promenade des Anglais, a bright sunny day… A pleasant holiday atmosphere made its way to Nice yesterday, thanks to the “everyone on bikes” operation. The CDOS 06 took advantage of the national cycle day to successfully organize the event in the Alpes-Maritimes. Renรฉ Naudin, vice-president of the Committee, explains the day’s objectives: *”It is a family event that allows all cyclists to ride freely. We also take the opportunity to set up stands with different sports, just as we will do this summer with the Sports Caravan.”*
Whether solo or in tandem, enthusiasts could enjoy the pleasure of a vehicle-free seaside. At 10:30 am, a group of more seasoned athletes arrived on the Promenade. The brave ones had set out an hour earlier from Carros, for a route of about 25 kilometers.
The town and department were also present. Olivier Bonin from Nice Cรดte dโAzur was tasked with explaining the blue bikes to the public. Meanwhile, Laurent Lavoine, the cycling expert of the General Council, took the opportunity to communicate about the department’s cycling initiatives: *”The main axis of the department is the coastline. We count more than 3,000 cyclists on our tracks on sunny days. Itโs important to meet the public during events like this.”*
