The 2010 Edition of Sauvegarde Junior: An Opportunity for Young People in Nice

This operation, held for three years in Nice in partnership with the Sea Rescue Service (SNSM) and Groupama, aims to raise awareness among children about the dangers of swimming and the sun with a program based on individual responsibility, which unfolds in 4 educational axes:

“I know the dangers”: Becoming aware of the dangers and ensuring one’s own safety in the water.

“I know how to give an alert”: Being attentive to others, recognizing a risky situation, and knowing how to give an alert.

“I protect my skin”: Protecting one’s physical integrity against the dangers of the sun.

“I respect nature”: Knowing, respecting, protecting the environment, and adopting exemplary behavior.

The infrastructure:

– A multi-surface equipment of 900 m² with a private supervised beach.

– A 300 m² delimited pool, under the supervision of a lifeguard near the emergency posts of the CRS and firefighters.

– A shaded area of 100 m² to host artistic and cultural activities in the best conditions.

– 365 tons of sand from the Nice Valley.

– 3,800 child-days (cumulative number of children welcomed throughout the operational period), averaging 240 children welcomed daily!

– 25 municipal leisure centers and 24 partner associations of the childhood and youth contract will allow more than 5,000 children to benefit from the operation.
