Launched on the occasion of the presentation of the Environmental Trophies, which is part of the Sustainable Development Week in 2013, the “one tree, one child” operation continues…
Symbol of renewal and investment for the future: in 2016, Nice welcomed 4,491 newborns.
This operation involves planting a young forest seedling for each newborn in Nice. In addition to its universal cultural significance, planting new seedlings helps contribute sustainably to the reforestation of our natural sites such as the Castle Hill and Mont Boron.
Planted at the end of the year to promote rooting and allow growth in the best conditions, the plants participating in the operation, such as the Italian stone pine, Aleppo pine, field maple, olive tree, or green oak, are distributed within our wooded areas.
For the record: Since the launch of this operation, over four years, nearly 18,500 forest plants have been planted.
