Operation “Solidarity Sports Weekend” with the Alpes-Maritimes CDOS

Following the dramatic floods on October 3rd, a tremendous surge of solidarity emerged to aid the victims in the Alpes-Maritimes. For one weekend, the entire sports community now wishes to join in this unprecedented generosity.

To this end, the Alpes-Maritimes Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee (CDOS 06), in partnership with the French Red Cross, is launching an appeal for donations on November 6, 7, and 8 across all sports venues in the department.

During this initiative, titled “Solidarity Sports Weekend,” numerous sporting events will be marked by acts of solidarity towards the victims of the adverse weather and will include a fundraising effort.

In this context, the sports events of major clubs in the Alpes-Maritimes will be part of this charitable effort:

Friday, November 6th:

Sharks Antibes – Dijon (Men’s Basketball Pro A)
Azur Arena in Antibes at 20:30

RC Cannes – Chamalières (Women’s Volleyball Pro A)
20:00 Palais des Victoires in Cannes

Nice Volley-Ball – Rennes (Men’s Volleyball League B)
20:00 Salle Palmeira in Nice

OGC Nice Hand-Ball – Dijon (Women’s Handball Pro A)
20:30 Charles Ehrmann Sports Hall in Nice

Saturday, November 7th:

AS Cannes – Poitiers (Men’s Volleyball Pro A)
3 PM Palais des Victoires in Cannes

Nice – Mulhouse (Ice Hockey Division 1)
19:15 Jean Bouin in Nice

Additionally, the Cannet Volleyball Club has proposed donating the proceeds from three Champions League matches played by the women’s team at the Palestre, the first of which was played on October 27, with the other two on December 9 and January 20, 2016.

Sunday, November 8th

The 8th edition of the Alpes-Maritimes Marathon will be the centerpiece of this charitable operation.

In addition to this weekend, CDOS 06 has already identified numerous initiatives among the amateur clubs in the department:

The Departmental Swimming Committee during competitions in Antibes on the 7th and 8th and in Nice on November 8.

The Lérins Rugby Club will organize a fundraising campaign across all matches of the solidarity weekend.

The Rapid Menton Football Club from 2 PM to 7 PM during the Saturday matches for the under-11s and under-13s.

The Karate Committee will collect funds during the Departmental Bushi Cup on November 8 at the Maurice Jaubert hall in Nice.

But also Running in the Pays de Grasse, RC Grasse Football, the Antibes AS Fontonne Football Club, the handball and basketball clubs of the town of Châteauneuf, the Athletic Club of Mandelieu la Napoule, and more.
