This Friday, the welcome hall of the pediatric hospitals of Nice CHU-Lenval will be transformed into a “Teddy Bear Hospital.” Led by health students, members of the Humanice association, in collaboration with the Lenval Foundation, this event allows young audiences to better understand healthcare professions.
Being faced with interlocutors who are still students makes the interaction easier and allows the children to ask questions and play doctor “for real.”
The hospital will welcome 4 classes (3 from the senior kindergarten section and one from first grade) from schools in Nice (St Pierre d’Arรจne, Baumettes II, Baumettes I, Auber).
This day fits perfectly into the school curriculum concerning the discovery of the body and raising awareness about hygiene and health themes. Each student will come with their favorite teddy bear and must tell the student welcoming them what their teddy bear is suffering from.
Nearly 90 children will be able to participate in the 6 workshops offered during a short hour between 9:00 am and 2:30 pm (with a break between 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm). The mascot “Sully” (from the movie Monsters, Inc.) will also be present to entertain our trainee caregivers. The teddy bears will be examined, get X-rays, and leave with a health record and their prescription!
