On February 5th, the Lenval Foundation and the Humanice association teamed up to launch the “Cuddly Toys at the Hospital” operation.
The reception hall of the pediatric hospitals of Nice CHU-Lenval was transformed for a day into a “cuddly toy hospital.” Run by health students from the city of Nice, members of the Humanice association, in collaboration with the Lenval Foundation, this event allowed young audiences to better understand healthcare professions.
It also facilitated caregiver-patient relationships by demystifying medical care and interactions with healthcare professionals. Engaging with still-studying professionals made the contact easier, enabling children to ask their questions and play doctor “for real.”
The Foundation hosted six kindergarten and first-grade classes from schools near the hospital (Saint-Pierre d’Arรจne, Sainte-Thรฉrรจse, Baumettes II). This day perfectly aligned with the educational curriculum regarding body discovery and awareness of hygiene and health topics.
Each student came with their favorite cuddly toy and told the welcoming student what ailment their toy was suffering from. About 150 children participated in the six workshops offered during a short hour between 9:00 AM and 4:15 PM. The cuddly toys were examined, underwent X-rays, and left with a health record and their prescriptions.
