A new social pact is awaited by all French people, and the reform of our pension system is part of it. To this end, a broad consultation opened last April among all the stakeholders concerned by this reform. The government, through the voice of the Prime Minister, has acknowledged the demographic reality that requires progressively and incentivally raising the retirement age. This balancing measure appears necessary to finance social progress, such as the minimum pension of 1000 euros or the alignment of pensions with wage developments.
For MEDEF06 and CPME06, a modern society, in the name of justice, fairness, and social progress, cannot live on the principle of acquired rights or privileges. This is why the ongoing dialogue must continue between the government and social partners. They must make the necessary efforts together to arrive at a mutually agreed solution. The government must finally regard interprofessional organizations as true partners.
It is urgent today that the disruptive actions cease. A day of strike “means about 400 million euros less in activity.” While striking is a right, so is the free movement of people and goods which is currently being undermined. That is why retailers, craftsmen, businesses, and their employees in the Alpes-Maritimes, having faced the strikes by taking measures such as teleworking, adjusted hours, or carpooling, are today telling the strikers “Enough!” and are asking to make the Christmas season a time of truce, a moment of peace and national unity, without questioning the open debate on pensions.
