This Friday at 9 PM in the Garden of the Musée des Beaux-Arts Jules Cheret, the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra “steps outside its walls” and offers a free concert in the city.
Program:
Georges ENESCU: Romanian Rhapsody No. 1 in A major, Op. 11
Joseph Haydn: Concerto No. 1 in C major for cello
Antonín Dvořák: Slavonic Dances
Musical direction: Christian Orosanu
Cello: Laure Hélène Michel
The Nice Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Christian Orosanu, who won the first edition of the International Opera Conducting Competition in Nice last year, presents George Enescu’s Romanian Rhapsody No. 1 in A major in the first part of this concert.
The evening will continue with Joseph Haydn, as his Cello Concerto No. 1 is on the program. This is a work that requires exceptional virtuosity, and it is Laure-Hélène Michel who will meet this challenge as the soloist.
The concert will conclude with Antonin Dvorak’s Slavonic Dances, which are among the most cherished works of the Czech composer.
