The epidemic has caused at least 260,546 deaths worldwide since it first appeared in December 2019 in China. More than 3,710,240 cases have been officially diagnosed in 195 countries and territories.

The United States is the most affected country, both in terms of deaths and cases, with 73,095 deaths and over 1.22 million cases. The other most affected countries are the United Kingdom (30,076 deaths), Italy (29,684 deaths), Spain (25,857 deaths), and France (25,809 deaths).
