Ovidie, the Little Black Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf

As a muse and later behind the camera, Ovidie has shown her talents as an actress and director. Known as the “intellectual of X,” she spoke to Nice Première about her new feature film, her first non-X-rated movie: “Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?”

ovidie.jpg Nice Première: Ovidie, you just directed your first non-X-rated movie. Can you tell us a bit about it?

Ovidie: It’s an 80-minute documentary called “Who’s Afraid of The Big Bad Wolf? An Investigation into Politically Incorrect Desires.” It’s a film that tries to explain, through archival footage of forgotten films and various testimonials, the fantasies that do not conform to our ethics or morals.

The world premiere took place at the festival “Is This How Men Live” in St Denis (93).

NP: Have you completely left the X-rated industry?

Ovidie: As an actress, yes, definitely. I started slowing down more than three years ago and definitively ended it a little over two years ago. However, I continue as a director. But overall, I do not like the direction the pornography industry is heading today; the scenes are becoming harder and more degrading. I prefer to leave with a good memory and not watch this once-friendly environment plummet into degradation.

NP: What are your plans in the coming months?

Ovidie: I will direct a 100% female pornographic film. The script was co-written with another woman, and the entire technical team will consist of women. The only men will be the actors.

NP: How are you handling your role as a young mother?

Ovidie: Well. Like any woman enjoying the joys of motherhood.

ovidie-cam.jpg NP: If you had to summarize your journey in the X industry?

Ovidie: It’s the path of a female jack-of-all-trades who has accumulated numerous activities (actress, director, author, sex therapist, manager of a virtual female sex shop, etc).

NP: Who are the people who have marked your career?

Ovidie: Jean-Jacques Beineix, Annie Sprinkle, Brigitte Lahaie, and many others.

NP: You are considered the intellectual of X, why is that?

Ovidie: Because the media still cannot believe that one can be part of the X industry without being a drug addict, nymphomaniac, or mentally challenged. Additionally, because I studied philosophy in France and various sexology trainings in American and Danish methods, I am regularly invited to speak at universities, and I have written several books.

NP: What are Ovidie’s passions and dreams?

Ovidie: To have a large country house, five children, and four bulldogs.

NP: Ovidie in politics. A possibility?

Ovidie: No, I am not a masochist. Everyone who has gone into politics has ruined their life.

ovidie-2.jpg NP: Are you familiar with the French Riviera? What do you think of it?

Ovidie: To be honest, I easily feel unwell when the outside temperature exceeds 25°C. Therefore, I prefer a country like Denmark which is much better suited to me climatically.

NP: And finally, Ovidie in one color, one book, and three words?

Ovidie: One color: green. One book: Funeral Rites (Jean Genet) which is a beautiful book about the relationship between eros and thanatos. Three words: Modesty, integrity, motherhood.
