Pablo Reinoso and the “Supernature” at Polygone Riviera

Latest News

From June 19 to October 14, Franco-Argentinian artist Pablo Reinoso is presenting a collection of ten sculptures as part of the 5th edition of the summer program at the Polygone Riviera center.

Pablo Reinoso was born in Buenos Aires in 1955, but lives and works in Paris. Since 1970, this sculptor has been reinventing and questioning our perception of the urban environment through works exhibited in many countries. One of his permanent installations can be found at Polygone Riviera under the name Banc d’amarrage, and it happens to be the inspiration for the upcoming “Supernature” exhibition.

This sculpture is representative of the artist’s thought process; the bench stretches and extends into space like evolving plant matter. This steel ivy takes over the site, managing to create an area of reflection and openness to others. For the many daily visitors to Polygone, such harmony can only satisfy the eye and draw attention to the function of art in public spaces.

The “Supernature” exhibition features ten sculptures embracing the idea of exponential nature insinuating itself into the urban setting. As such, the choice of placing the works in a center like Polygone is no accident. Built in harmony with its natural surroundings and the Malvan river, Polygone perfectly illustrates the artist’s desire to consider the porosity and proximity between environments. Ten sculptures provide as much material for reflection on the impact of the established order by humans on the entire ecosystem.
