On the eve of the plenary session of the Regional Council on Friday, during which President Christian Estrosi will propose innovative resolutions regarding sports and cultural policy, the National Front has delivered a harsh assessment of the first half of this term.
Unsurprisingly, the verdict is more than negative and Marion Maréchal Le Pen accuses her adversary of being a “smoke and mirrors” artist, charging him with doing “nothing but a lot of communication.”
It is true that Christian Estrosi could probably pass off an ice cube as an ice floe, but this judgment seems exaggerated to us: in fact, the new regional president has already made his style and vigor felt.
As for the “unfulfilled” electoral promises according to the leader of the opposition, we know very well that in politics, promises only bind those who believe in them.
Marion Maréchal-Le Pen particularly criticizes the promise to equip the stations with security gates, downgraded to a mere experiment in Les Arcs. Or the “single window” for businesses which, for her, is just a simple helpline!
However, several representatives from the economic world have praised this initiative: “This single window will simplify access to information on the nature of public and private funding, on one hand. It will improve the support of companies requesting it in their search by providing expertise on their situation, on the other hand.”
Who to believe?
In conclusion, Marion Le Pen revisited the territorial consultative assembly put in place by Christian Estrosi as a symbolic consolation prize for the Socialist Party and its allies who decided not to run in the second round of the regional elections, thereby favoring his success.
The importance given to this initiative is difficult to understand, as it has already demonstrated its uselessness and will remain in existence just to keep up appearances without any tangible effect on regional policy.
