The route for the 83rd edition of Paris-Nice was unveiled this morning in Versailles. The start will be given in Le Perray-en-Yvelines on March 9, 2025. The itinerary includes 8 stages and 1,206 km to reach Nice on March 16.
Paris-Nice, the “Race to the Sun,” will offer a series of varied challenges this year. A route on which the two-time Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard has already announced his presence. The demanding route promises a great battle among climbers until the arrival on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. But before that, the riders will have to cover more than 1,200 km.
The teams will need to be prepared from the first stage in the Yvelines. The initial circuit expects a tense finish with a possible breakout in the Mesnuls hill, nine kilometers from the line.
The second day will take the riders towards Bellegarde, crossing the Beauce plain. This route is conducive to crosswinds in case of wind. Next, the individual time trial by team, stretching 28.4 km between the Nevers Magny-Cours circuit and Nevers, will mark a decisive turning point for the standings.
On Wednesday, March 12, the climbers will make their first appearance at the front of the peloton. The stage will conclude at the Loge des Gardes, after a positive elevation gain of 3,100 m in the Bourbonnais mountain.
An uphill finish around Nice
The end of the week promises to be decisive. On Friday, the punchers will find their favorite terrain with the wall of Notre-Dame-de-Sciez, featuring sections at 18%. The sprinters will then have a chance in Berre-l’รtang, although the Rhรดne Valley winds might disrupt their plans.
The queen stage on Saturday will lead the riders to the Auron station, after a day marked by the climbs of Colmiane and Auron. The favorites will have to defend their positions in the ascents.
The final stage, on Sunday, March 16, will revolve around Nice. With a route of 119.9 km, the climbers will have to tackle the Col de la Porte, the Cรดte de Peille, the Col dโรze, and finally the Quatre Chemins. The Bay of Angels will serve, as always, as the backdrop for the final arrival. So who will succeed Mattรฉo Jorgensson?
