This 7th stage was the climbers’ great challenge day, and the Colombian riders excelled. Daniel Martinez and Miguel Angel Lopez, two Colombians, took the top two spots. The Frenchman Nicolas Edet finished 3rd on the podium.
Daniel Martinez won this 7th stage of Paris-Nice in 04:55:49 between Nice and Le Col de Turini, with a 6-second lead over his compatriot.
It was in the last kilometer that Daniel Martinez launched a decisive attack: at first, he was followed by his compatriot Miguel Angel Lopez, who he managed to shake off in the final 100 meters.
And it’s another Colombian, Egan Bernal, who took the lead in the provisional general classification. He will start the final stage with a 45-second advantage over the German Philippe Gilbert. In third place, we find yet another compatriot, as it’s Nairo Quintana.
On Sunday, the start of the last stage will be given at Place Massรฉna at 1:45 PM, with an expected finish on the Promenade des Anglais around 4:45 PM.
