As the Hรดtel des Polices is set to open its doors in December 2025, Deputy Eric Ciotti questions the Minister of the Interior about the lack of reserved parking for officials. The municipality responds sharply.
The completion of the Hรดtel des Polices in Nice is scheduled for the end of 2025. This vast 50,000 mยฒ complex located on the site of the former Saint-Roch Hospital will bring together several security services: national police, municipal police, judicial police, as well as an urban hypervision center and a Metropolitan Health Security Agency.
In this context, รric Ciotti addressed an official letter to Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleau, dated July 29. He expresses his concern about the absence, according to him, of clearly identified parking solutions for the police officers who will work in this new complex. He mentions “a strong concern” among the officers and calls for the rapid implementation of a “specific, secure, and free solution.”
But the reply was not long in coming. On the social network X, Anthony Borrรฉ, the first deputy mayor of Nice, reacted sharply : “It is quite rare to see a deputy so unaware of a matter. The issue has been worked on for many years and it has always been said that the Marshall parking lot would be dedicated to officials.”
The Nice elected official accuses the deputy of misinformation and reminds that the parking needs of residents will be addressed with the future Wilson parking lot: “The Wilson parking lot will compensate for the missing spaces for residents. And administrative procedures are underway.”
The tone is clear: the municipality intends to defend a project it considers structuring for local security. Christian Estrosi recalled during a site visit in March the importance of a unified location for law enforcement: “The security chain requires today, in the face of all the threats we know, coordinated work to double effectiveness.”
Completion by End of 2025
The project is currently entering its final phase. The deadlines announced seem to be met, according to Vinci and the municipality. The agents are expected to start their duties at the beginning of 2026.
Beyond the political exchanges, some local merchants have also expressed concerns about the local impact of the project, particularly in terms of traffic and footfall. While the parking issue has been settled for the municipality, it remains a topic of discussion for some local stakeholders.
The upcoming completion of the Hรดtel des Polices marks a significant step in reorganizing security services in Nice. However, debates over its practical operating conditions are not yet over.
