Parking in the city to be reformed soon

Latest News

The rules regarding paid parking on public roads in Nice will be somewhat modified, starting from January 1, 2018.

Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice, announced the upcoming changes yesterday, as part of the reform on paid parking on streets, which will take effect at the beginning of next year.

In Nice, there are no less than 8,500 paid parking spaces. It is also estimated that only one in ten drivers pays the required parking fees (excluding fines).
This reform therefore aims to revamp the pricing system, firstly to address this issue.

Through this measure, the municipality hopes for greater turnover of parked vehicles (especially in the city center), which will primarily benefit residents, with more parking spaces available to them.

Another issue that this reform aims to alleviate is the time spent searching for a parking space. With more active turnover of city parking, it will now be easier (or less difficult) to park during “peak hours.”
This will also be positive for air quality, as it is estimated that a driver takes an average of nearly 20 minutes to find a space in the center of Nice.
The time saved in the search will consequently reduce the pollution caused by traffic.

Finally, this development coincides with the city’s desire to modernize, in order to continue expanding its commercial and tourist influence.
