Passing of former CDOS06 President Jean-Paul Serra

Latest News

Jean-Paul Serra presided over the CDOS 06 for 22 years and supported many high-level athletes. He continuously promoted the introduction to sports and conveyed the values of Olympic sports in the department, notably by launching the Sport Caravan in 2002 in the Alpes-Maritimes, a now essential traveling event that allows children to discover various sports for free.

This sports enthusiast from the Azure region was also highly involved with the French Federation of Rescue and First Aid, which he joined at the age of 16. He climbed through all the ranks, held the positions of rescue director, and eventually became the President of the departmental committee of the Federation and the President of the PACA League of Rescue and First Aid.

Jean-Paul Serra was an example of determination and solidarity, values he upheld for more than fifty years as a volunteer.

In recent years, he sought to promote and support sports among people affected by illness through the association As Cœur Santé 06.

Numerous tributes have been expressed, the first from Charles Ange Ginésy, President of the Alpes-Maritimes Department, who wanted to express his sadness for the loss of “this man of conviction and big heart.”
