The highly anticipated press conference by the Public Prosecutor of Marseille ultimately revealed only a few details about the arrest of the alleged organizers and perpetrators of the double murder on May 6, during which Hélène Pastor (who died on May 21) and her driver lost their lives.
The presence among them of Madame Pastor’s daughter, Sylvia, and her partner requires the utmost caution before drawing any conclusions. It was clear that the investigators knew more than they were willing to disclose, but…
One thing is certain, and it was evident from the beginning of the investigation: this was a contract killing, entrusted to mediocre professionals who failed to properly carry out their grim task.
Armed with a rifle, one of them riddled the two victims with bullets without killing them instantly, whereas in such cases, the operation is almost surgical when executed at point-blank range. This made it clear that even the instigator(s) were not professionals.
For now, only the suspects have been clearly identified, two individuals of Comorian origin already known to the police and living in Marseille.
Thanks to new technologies and the numerous mistakes made, the investigators were able to identify them and trace back to the network members who organized the operation.
But, of course, the case will only be resolved by identifying the instigator(s) and the motive.
The possibility of a family connection makes the prosecutor and investigators extremely cautious, waiting for suspicions to become evidence, even though it’s obvious that respectable and influential people are not taken into custody just for media attention.
For now, this is where we stand!
