The signing of the agreement between the National Police, Gendarmerie, and Municipal Police, which establishes a collaborative framework that can only be both useful and promising for greater efficiency in combating delinquency, does not prevent the leader of the opposition to the Mayor of Nice from expressing a negative judgment on municipal policy in this area. For the record, the two figures mentioned by Patrick Allemand, even though they are real, conceal an overall positive result as announced by Mr. Prefect.
Pickpocketing, +50%, burglaries, +24%. In a department where overall crime figures are declining, these numbers confirm that there is indeed a Nice exception. This highlights the failure of the political choice made by the duo ESTROSI-KANDEL: prioritizing video surveillance.
In this context, I welcome the signing of the new coordination agreement between the National Police and Municipal Police, which foresees a strengthening of joint operations.
I note, incidentally, that once again, the Mayor of Nice has completely discredited himself by doing exactly the opposite of what he announced at the last municipal council on December 20, 2012, where he had clearly stated that he would withdraw the Municipal Police from the global system and refocus it on purely municipal missions.
Every day, the word of the Mayor of Nice becomes more “devalued.” In this area, he has been showboating, but the reality of his failure in terms of security has quickly caught up with him.
