The opposition councilor who had supported the En Nour association’s project intervenes in the debate with a statement:
“The inquiry commissioner has just issued an unfavorable opinion on the second DUP project for the creation of a child care center and a co-working space. He was not fooled by the maneuver.
I pay tribute to his work, his independence, and his courage given the pressures surrounding this case.
The final decision belongs to the prefect. It would now be incomprehensible for him to sign it, after he himself definitively rejected the first DUP on January 11, 2017, and given the inquiry commissioner’s conclusions on the second DUP.
It is now up to him to calm spirits, and I call on him to stop all intimidation maneuvers, with the mayor of Nice publicly requesting the names and addresses of the 9,419 contributors for verification purposes.
Finally, I am pleased to see the mayor declare that he wants to open a mosque at 43 Route de Grenoble, but this time under the aegis of the “Cultural Center of Muslims of Nice-la Fraternité.” By announcing so clearly, the mayor has just demonstrated that he attempts to manage the Muslim worship as he sees fit, which, once again, contradicts the jurisprudences of the Council of State.”
