Patrick Allemand, the first vice-president of the Regional Council, represented Michel Vauzelle at the meeting of the presidents of the regions of the Euroregion Alps-Mediterranean, gathering Provence-Alpes-Cรดte d’Azur, Rhรดne-Alpes, the Aosta Valley, Piedmont, and Liguria, which took place in Turin.
The representatives of the five regions recognized on this occasion the importance of cooperation between their territories and their stakeholders. Acknowledging a strong common identity and their economic dynamism, they decided to revive the Euroregion Alps-Mediterranean, where cooperation had significantly slowed under Roberto Cota’s leadership from the Northern League in the Piedmont Region.
The election last May of the democrat (center-left) Sergio Chiamparino (pictured here with Patrick Allemand and Jean-Jack Queyranne, president of the Rhรดne-Alpes Region) enabled the revival of the cooperation process during the drafting of the ALCOTRA cross-border cooperation program.
During this meeting, Patrick Allemand discussed the future of the Nice-Breil-Cuneo railway line, emphasizing the PACA Region’s commitment to its continuity, as well as its economic significance.
Sergio Chiamparino responded that it was also a concern for the Italian government and announced the release of 30 million euros in favor of renovating this cross-border railway line.
