Patrick Allemand (PS): The Future of Le Ray Delivered to Property Developers and Collateral Damage from the Underground Tram!

Latest News

The socialist opposition leader cannot be more virulent: “The masks are off: the City and the Metropolis acknowledge their financial inability to manage even a very small part of the Ray Stadium conversion project. This situation is the result of the disastrous management of the Metropolis and the city by Christian Estrosi.”

Reaction from Patrick Allemand, president of the municipal group Changing Era

Christian Estrosi stated to the regional daily, speaking of the Ray’s future, that “any new facility must be self-financing” and then specified that it will require calling upon real estate developers.

This statement demonstrates the complete lack of vision from the Mayor of Nice for the future of our city. It is unbelievable that the Mayor would thus abandon a part of Nice’s heritage to private interests.

The Ray Stadium is a symbolic site to which all the people of Nice are attached. Its conversion requires public investments guaranteeing green spaces and sports or social facilities accessible to all and owned by all.

The land reserves will, in fact, be sold to real estate developers who will build housing and private “self-financing” sports or social facilities.

The project will, therefore, be defined by developers based solely on financial considerations.

By the end of his term, the City no longer has the financial means to control the transformation of the last major area of interest in the heart of the city, the Ray. What an admission of powerlessness!

The reality is that the future of an entire city is being sacrificed in the underground project of tram line 2, which is a financial abyss. The people of Nice must stop this project because the additional underground cost is almost equivalent to the price of the new stadium, the Allianz Riviera.
