Currently on a tour of high schools in the Alpes-Maritimes and before the strike on September 27th, Patrick ALLEMAND, 1st Vice-President of the Provence-Alpes-Cรดte d’Azur Region, can only regret the situation in which the regional high schools find themselves.
Several principals have reported genuine difficulties, class sizes reaching up to 38 students, and issues with managing teaching staff, due to the assignment of substitute teachers (TZR) to vacant positions at the end of August.
Beyond these difficulties, the situation is even more concerning with the non-teaching staff in high schools, as the supervision rate of assisted contracts in the Nice Academy is lower than the national average and the average of the Aix-Marseille Academy.
105 supervisory posts have been eliminated in the Nice Academy, leaving the student life services completely disorganized.
As an example, the Lycรฉe du Parc Impรฉrial, where I visited on September 19th, no longer has any staff on assisted contracts, nor a nurse, and the courtyard is no longer monitored during recess, which poses real problems in a mixed College/High School campus.
Regarding security issues in particular, I request that Eric CIOTTI and Christian ESTROSI intervene without delay with the relevant ministries to ensure the 105 assisted contract posts removed from national education are reinstated as a priority.
