A reflection by Patrick Mottard that isn’t lacking in content… and that should lead to some meditations!
Participating in a literary fair doesn’t preclude political reflection. Especially not in Mouans-Sartoux.
Thus, during these three days in the town of Andrรฉ Aschieri, a stay enriched by a few encounters, I had ample opportunity to meditate on the success of the diverse left in the west of the department.
First, by moving around the town itself. This small town destined to be a bedroom community has transformed, thanks to Andrรฉ’s teamโthis mayor who has always kept his distance from political partiesโinto a model commune where life is good and whose book festival is just one of the many cherries on a delicious cake for those who consider participatory democracy, cultural mediation, and environmental defense.
Then, there was my meeting with Guilaine Debras, the new chief magistrate of the commune of Biot, elected in March in a particularly difficult context.
She too is a diverse left in a commune where the Socialist Party has never been able to create a section. Guilaine, I can attest, is full of enthusiasm and projects. We can bet that Biot will be much talked about in the coming months. In a positive way.
Finally, there was my friend from the General Council, Jean-Raymond Vinciguerra (JRV for close friends) elected the same year as me in 1998, also a diverse left. With his non-partisan team “Vinciguerra autrement,” he has succeeded in becoming one of the key political figures in the Grasse basin.
Faced with this success of independents in the west, the retrospective understanding of Marc Daunis’s attitude (peripheral PS) becomes clearer as he composed a list outside of party apparatuses to ensure his reelection to the Senate!
