A few weeks ago, when a poster signed by the CGT depicting a truncheon and a CRS badge near a pool of blood with the caption “The police must protect citizens, not beat them,” the union deflected by suggesting it was an isolated initiative.
.
But today, with the release of another poster of the same ilk, there is no longer any doubt (police officers walking on blood-stained ground with the caption “Labor law: stop the repression!”): the trade union has launched an extraordinarily violent campaign against the police.
This republican public service, which after being targeted by Islamic terrorism is now being attacked by ultra-violent elements never denounced by the organizers of demonstrations and “Nuit debout.”
It is possible – police action is complex – that some excesses may occur, but we live in a state of law with internal affairs and a justice system. Therefore, nothing can justify this hateful affront: we must support the police of the Republic.
In January 2015, I published a post right here titled: “I am Charlie, I am a police officer.” It was endorsed and read by thousands of internet users and to this day constitutes the best audience this 10-year-old blog has ever had. It is reassuring to see that many citizens are poles apart from the CGT’s deviations.
