The artist from Nice recreated a virtual Place Masséna in the universe of Second Life and welcomed, yesterday in the late afternoon, American or Swiss “virtual witnesses” who came to talk about their second life in this virtual world.
An experience well-suited to this Nice house of connected health that is starting to find its footing with many sessions taking place every week at 27 Delvalle.
The first virtual meeting was with Gentle Heron (aka Alice Krueger) who spoke about the activities of Virtual Ability, an American association working in the field of integrating people with disabilities or health conditions. “Indeed, in Second Life, we are in a world where we can do all the things we cannot do in the real world,” explains Alice Krueger who, like Patrick Moya, has her own island in Second Life.
“A person with a degenerative disease who hadn’t physically left their home for some time even ‘actually’ ventured out through the use of Second Life,” comments Patrick Moya, who continues to give tours of the buildings on his island, pausing at his hospital, museum, and gigantic sculpture overlooking the island.
“It’s a new way to envision and approach the health sector, and many applications can draw inspiration from it, such as the e-learning that Patrick Moya presented to us on the island of one of his many contacts,” says Olivier Guérin, health deputy, who has an undisguised interest in this project, which might very well have future developments at the heart of the connected health house. Maybe one day we’ll see a virtual 27 Delvalle arise from the ground on Moya Island?
The children from the Ruche were also part of the event with a presentation meant for them, and even if they were a bit too young to join the virtual world of Second Life, the Cyber Carnival captivated their attention until the moment when the artist from Nice invited them to dance, but this time for real.
A late afternoon rich in discoveries and emotions, which might spark imitators as ideas were already buzzing during the very real friendly drink shared between the artist and his guests.
